Registered Nurse 3 – Adult Mental/Forensic Units

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse 3 to work in the Adult Mental/Forensic Units at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This full‑time position offers a variety of shift options and the chance to provide critical nursing care to a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client health problems, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer prescribed medications, documenting times and dosages accurately.
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary health‑care team to evaluate and modify treatment plans.
• Maintain detailed client records, monitor symptoms, and report changes in condition.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, and ensure a sterile environment.
• Provide education to clients and families on health maintenance and disease prevention.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
• Experience in adult mental health or forensic nursing settings preferred.
• Ability to work any of the three daily shifts (7 am‑3:30 pm, 3 pm‑11:30 pm, 11 pm‑7:30 am).
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a health‑care team.

Required skills

• Medication administration (oral, sublingual, intramuscular).
• CPR certification and ability to operate an AED.
• Knowledge of pharmacology and immunization regulations.
• Familiarity with nursing policies, procedures, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Basic nursing assessment and care planning competencies.
