Regional Prevention Specialist – Savannah

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Regional Prevention Specialist for the Savannah area. Working under the State Prevention Specialist, you will help manage and expand prevention services that improve the health and well‑being of individuals, families, and communities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage regional funding for prevention services, including contract development, amendments, and payments.
• Monitor contract deliverables, reporting, and evaluations to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Provide technical assistance and training to public and private providers on prevention practices and state web‑based reporting systems.
• Identify and disseminate information on funding, research, and training opportunities.
• Promote prevention initiatives through coordination with local coalitions, community organizations, and other state agencies.
• Maintain effective communication with regional staff, providers, and stakeholders.
• Travel approximately 30 % of the time, with quarterly trips required, while working a hybrid schedule (two days onsite).

Required profile

• Under direction of the State Prevention Specialist, with ability to manage contracts and budgets.
• Experience in public health, behavioral health, or community‑based prevention programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
• Willingness to travel regionally and attend quarterly meetings.
