R&D NPI Intern – Disposables (San Diego)

About the role

Philips is seeking a motivated intern to support the design and development of next‑generation functional measurement guidewires and intravascular ultrasound catheters within its Image Guided Therapy division in San Diego.

Key responsibilities

• Generate concepts, create models and prototype functional measurement guidewires or ultrasound catheters.
• Set up and execute bench‑top test rigs to evaluate product concepts.
• Perform statistical data analysis, including Design of Experiments and capability studies.
• Write and execute test protocols and compile detailed test reports.

Required profile

• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• Proficient with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and fixture design.
• Experience with basic machining and bench‑top testing.
• Knowledge of statistical methods such as DOE, Gauge R&R, and capability analysis.
• Familiarity with intravascular clinical workflows is a plus.
• Experience with Minitab is a plus.

What we offer

• Hourly pay range: $29‑$32 (Bachelor level) or $33‑$46 (Master level) per hour.
• Eligibility for overtime pay.
