Radiation Therapist (PRN) – Jeff Hwy

About the role

This role applies ionizing radiation to oncology patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. The therapist maintains accurate treatment records, processes exam orders, acts as a liaison with physicians, patients and families, and monitors patients for any adverse reactions during therapy.

Key responsibilities

• Administers radiation therapy to patients according to the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription.
• Documents port films and treatment charts and processes orders for required exams.
• Maintains daily patient treatment schedule and performs quality‑control and machine QA checks.
• Charts accurately, monitors patients for adverse reactions, and coordinates with physicians, patients and families.
• Handles billing documentation and adapts scheduling to department needs.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficient computer and data‑entry skills with Windows‑style applications.
• Ability to operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment.
• Knowledge of radiation therapy concepts, applications and administration.
