Quality Engineer – Manufacturing – Lake Zurich, IL

About the role

Wieland is seeking a Quality Engineer to support product quality and continuous improvement for its Morgan Bronze facility in Lake Zurich, Illinois. This individual contributor role focuses on internal and external customer support, documentation, and corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain process control and quality documentation such as PCPs, FMEAs, and process flows.
• Provide technical direction and support to manufacturing personnel, inspectors, and technicians, including hands‑on inspection assistance.
• Lead new product reviews, APQP assessments, and update BOMs to reflect customer‑specific quality requirements.
• Manage customer quality activities, compile and submit PPAP/FAIRs, and resolve issues using 8D methodology.
• Coordinate internal and external corrective actions, verify effectiveness, and close out actions promptly.
• Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and development activities as needed.
• Support KPI improvement initiatives such as reducing COPQ, PPM, and scrap costs.

Required profile

• Ability to work on‑site at the Lake Zurich facility with occasional local customer travel.
• Eligibility to access and handle ITAR Technical Data as defined by 22 CFR 120.15.
• Experience in quality engineering functions, including PPAP, APQP, and 8D problem‑solving.
