Quality Control Engineer

About the role

ABB is hiring a Quality Control Engineer in Richmond, Virginia, reporting to the Integrated Production Unit Manager. The role is onsite and supports the production unit in building the capabilities needed to control products and systems, ensuring compliance with internal, customer and industry requirements in a cost-effective and safe environment. It also involves helping develop and implement standards and test methods so only compliant products, software and services reach customers.

Key responsibilities

• Run test protocols in incoming, manufacturing, factory test labs or final inspection, including internal testing routines and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) where applicable
• Support quality control needs for supplier quality, production quality, testing and validation and engineering
• Deliver quality-related training and promote a culture of quality and integrity
• Collect, record and evaluate data according to ABB specifications, customer norms and applicable national and global standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering plus at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience in production quality management activities such as inspections, audits and performance monitoring
• Flexibility to work any shift as needed
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP and MS Office
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies (certification a plus)
• Analytical thinking and strong data collection and analysis skills
