Quality Assurance Specialist – Laboratory QA

About the role

The Georgia Department of Agriculture is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support its Laboratory Division in Atlanta. You will ensure the laboratory maintains its ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and other quality standards, contributing to the safety and excellence of Georgia's agricultural products.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) for the Laboratory Division.
• Perform document control, editing, and publishing of QMS documents.
• Conduct monthly internal audits and follow‑up audits.
• Manage calibration records, temperature monitoring, and other laboratory data.
• Assess laboratory risks, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify improvement opportunities and record nonconformance actions.
• Support QA staff, Lab Division Director, and Program Managers with quality tasks.
• Assist with external accreditation assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience assessing quality in a laboratory setting.
• Strong reading comprehension, attention to detail, and ability to follow specific instructions.
• Effective communication with laboratory staff and ability to meet project deadlines.
