Public Relations Coordinator

About the role

The University of Tulsa is seeking a Public Relations Coordinator to manage media relations, promote events, and support communication initiatives across the museum and university community. This role will work closely with leadership and various departments to ensure consistent messaging and public engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and distribute news releases, media kits, statements, and newsletters.
• Maintain and update media contact databases, coordinate interviews, press tours, and media coverage.
• Plan and execute conferences, exhibition openings, tours, and public events, handling logistics and follow‑ups.
• Write and edit website copy, newsletters, and other communications, collaborating with marketing, curatorial, education, and development teams.
• Manage email campaigns and ensure website content aligns with museum priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
• At least three years of experience in public information, media relations or communications, preferably in a museum, nonprofit or cultural setting.
• Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills with strong organizational abilities.
