Psychologist 3 – Augusta YDC (CCR)

About the role

The Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Psychologist 3 to provide comprehensive mental health services at the Augusta Youth Development Center (YDC). This full‑time position supports the assessment, treatment, and supervision of justice‑involved youth, ensuring compliance with state policies and professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and document diagnostic evaluations, integrating record reviews, youth interviews, and staff observations.
• Use authorized psychometric measures to clarify diagnoses, identify treatment needs, and track progress.
• Present evaluation results in treatment team meetings and coordinate with other mental‑health staff.
• Provide clinical supervision to mental‑health staff, focusing on support, skill development, and quality monitoring.
• Maintain 24‑hour on‑call supervision and consultation as needed.
• Review and approve mental‑health assessments performed by staff.
• Audit suicide‑prevention and special‑management plans monthly, following Office of Behavioral Health Services guidance.

Required profile

• Licensed Psychologist (or equivalent) with experience in forensic or juvenile settings.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
• Experience supervising mental‑health professionals.
• Strong knowledge of DJJ policies, professional standards, and behavioral health guidelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with authorized psychometric assessment tools.
• Ability to document evaluations in the Juvenile Tracking System (JTS).
• Effective communication of clinical findings to multidisciplinary teams.
