About the role
Arcetyp LLC is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to work on‑site at a U.S. military medical facility in Okinawa, Japan. The role involves providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to individuals with acute and intermediate psychiatric conditions, supporting therapeutic programs, and ensuring a safe environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care for acute psychiatric and intermediate units, including intake assessments and triage interviews.
- Assist with counseling, orientation to unit procedures, and a variety of treatment modalities such as biofeedback, stress management, and group therapy.
- Conduct ward searches, monitor use of dangerous items, and manage patient safety through manual and mechanical restraints.
- Perform routine training on assault‑prevention, manage agitated patients, and conduct one‑on‑one observations for suicidal or homicidal risk.
- Maintain confidentiality, educate staff on psychiatric patient rights, and document all patient interactions.
- Support outpatient care by performing risk assessments, transcribing physician orders, and facilitating patient groups and activities.
- Escort patients safely, manage elopement risks, and coordinate field trips.
- Enter and retrieve patient data using CHCS and CIS computer systems.
- Perform diagnostic support duties such as drawing blood, collecting specimens, taking vital signs, and assisting physicians during examinations.
Required profile
- Ability to conduct intake assessments, triage interviews, and counseling sessions.
- Experience with physical restraint techniques and management of aggressive behavior.
- Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and psychiatric patient rights.
- Capability to perform risk assessments, monitor safety, and conduct one‑on‑one observations.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate patient records and using electronic health systems.
- Competence in basic clinical tasks such as blood draws, specimen collection, and vital sign measurement.
