Project Manager - Industrial Refrigeration

About the role

The Project Manager – Industrial Refrigeration leads the full lifecycle of ammonia‑based refrigeration projects for Enerflex’s Service Department, from award through design, procurement, construction and commissioning. The role serves as the primary customer liaison and ensures projects meet technical, commercial and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all technical, commercial, contractual and fabrication aspects from initiation to closeout, following Enerflex processes and the project execution plan.
• Prepare and contribute to proposals, oversee multiple concurrent projects, and act as the main point of contact for customers.
• Develop progress reports, forecast performance, and communicate scope changes internally.
• Validate project schedules, coordinate engineering, material requisition, cost control, delivery, and quality activities.
• Resolve schedule impacts, design or commissioning issues, and mentor junior engineers.
• Support negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors and consultants, and maintain risk and safety plans.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry with proven project management expertise.
• Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams, block flow diagrams, specifications and refrigeration drawings.
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) for NH3‑based facilities.
• Familiarity with IIAR standards and food‑processing cold‑storage environments.

Required skills

• Ammonia (NH3) refrigeration system design and installation.
• Piping design, installation and support (MIRO, PHP).
• Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance.
• Knowledge of industrial refrigeration equipment manufacturers (Frick, Mayekawa, Howden, GEA, Evapco, RVS, Alfa Laval, Vogt).
• Installation of control and isolation valves (Danfoss, Hansen Technologies, R/S) and NH3 detection systems.
• Application of IIAR standards and bulletins.
