Project Manager – GWI Projects (North America)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Project Manager for its Global Workplace and Infrastructure (GWI) Projects in North America. Based in Austin, TX, you will lead the delivery of high‑tech equipment installations and tenant‑improvement construction across semiconductor and clean‑room facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project scope, schedule and budget through design, contracting and construction phases for complex cleanroom and semiconductor manufacturing environments.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, architecture/engineering firms, Facilities Operations and EH&S to develop, review and approve design criteria, layouts and detailed drawings.
• Inspect construction progress, schedule inspections, and oversee commissioning and hand‑off to lab owners or building operations.
• Control project budgets, cost reporting and closure, ensuring compliance with city permits, NEC, IBC and fire codes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 7‑10 years of construction project management or facilities engineering experience.
• Proven expertise managing projects in semiconductor manufacturing or other high‑tech technical environments.
• Strong analytical judgment, ability to work independently and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of semiconductor facility systems (acid/solvent waste, water, gases, controls) and fire/gas life‑safety systems.
• Familiarity with City Permit requirements, National Electrical Code, International Building Code and fire codes.
• Experience with SPC, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA and remote energy management systems.
