Project Manager – Classroom Technology Upgrades

About the role

The University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT) is seeking a Project Manager to lead its recurring Classroom Technology Upgrades initiative. This role will coordinate planning, implementation, and delivery of technology upgrades across campus, working closely with DIT staff, vendors, and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and finalize classroom technology upgrade projects on schedule and within budget.
• Acquire resources and coordinate efforts of internal team members, third‑party contractors, and vendors.
• Manage project scope, schedule, stakeholder communication, issue and risk tracking.
• Oversee equipment receipt, inventory management, and on‑site installation logistics.
• Support continuous improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO) by identifying opportunities, updating assets, and facilitating training.
• Maintain compliance with safety requirements on construction sites and operate university vehicles as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing IT‑related projects, preferably in an academic or large‑institution environment.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, including campus partners, vendors, and contractors.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to handle scheduling, reporting, and risk management.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or extended shifts during critical project phases or emergencies.
