Project Engineer – Drainage (Infrastructure)

About the role

The Project Engineer – Drainage will support field construction and engineering coordination for roadway storm‑drainage systems on the SR400 Express Lanes project in Georgia. The role ensures drainage work meets design requirements, schedules, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support installation of reinforced concrete pipe, culverts, catch basins, manholes, headwalls, ditches, swales and underdrains.
• Coordinate daily drainage activities with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, survey crews, earthwork and utility teams.
• Review drainage plans, profiles, pipe and structure schedules, and verify field conditions before installation.
• Verify locations, alignments, invert elevations, slopes, cover requirements and outfall elevations.
• Sequence excavation, trench protection, bedding, pipe placement, backfill, compaction, dewatering and site restoration.
• Identify and resolve conflicts with utilities, structures, foundations and existing infrastructure.
• Track quantities, material deliveries, installation progress, testing, inspections and subcontractor performance.
• Maintain look‑ahead plans, RFIs, daily reports, photographs, redlines and as‑built records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum three years of field experience in infrastructure, roadway or bridge construction.
• Familiarity with GDOT projects and knowledge of AASHTO/FHWA standards is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field offices and job sites.
• Basic understanding of cost tracking, budget monitoring and field production documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Primavera P6.
• Experience using Procore.
• Ability to work with Bluebeam.
• Knowledge of HCSS software.
