About the role
The Programme Management Officer supports the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) within the Department of Peace Operations, based in New York. Reporting to the Team Lead of the Programme Management Support Section, the officer contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of mine‑action programmes worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor assigned programmes and projects, analysing progress and proposing corrective actions.
- Research, analyse and synthesize information from diverse sources related to programmes, countries and territories.
- Assist in policy development, including issue analysis, evaluations and preparation of research studies.
- Prepare written outputs such as background papers, talking points, donor proposals, report sections and inputs for publications.
- Provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda setting, participant identification and document preparation.
- Conduct outreach, training workshops and presentations to promote UNMAS activities.
- Participate in or lead field missions, guide external consultants and draft mission summaries.
- Coordinate budget and funding activities, prepare programme budgets, pledging documents and financial reports.
- Collect and visualise data to identify trends and support data‑driven decision‑making.
Required profile
- Experience in programme or project management within an international or humanitarian context.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to produce high‑quality written products.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
- Capacity to work both in office and in the field, including travel to mission sites.
- Familiarity with budgeting, financial reporting and donor coordination processes.
