Program Manager, Events Business Operations

About the role

The Program Manager, Events Business Operations will oversee the delivery of conference and event services for external clients at the Universities at Shady Grove. Acting as the primary client liaison, you will ensure seamless event execution while optimizing revenue and maintaining a high‑quality client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full event lifecycle, from consultation and planning to logistical coordination and post‑event follow‑up.
• Collaborate with Business Office, Facilities Management, IT, Public Safety, Catering, and external vendors to align resources with event objectives.
• Travel across campus for meetings, site visits, and on‑site event oversight, including occasional evening, weekend, and holiday assignments.
• Maintain accurate documentation, budgets, and schedules to support the university’s business goals.
• Ensure compliance with safety, accessibility, and university policies throughout all events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of professional event planning experience.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules demand.
• Not eligible for telework; on‑site presence required.
