Program Director & Clinical-Track Assistant/Associate Professor, Physician Assistant

About the role

Tarleton State University’s College of Health & Clinical Professions seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Program Director and Clinical-Track Assistant/Associate Professor for its Physician Assistant Medicine program. The role combines academic leadership, curriculum oversight, and faculty mentorship to advance the program toward provisional accreditation and to support student success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and administrative leadership, including budget development, resource allocation, and compliance with ARC‑PA accreditation standards.
• Oversee curriculum design, continuous improvement, and integration of emerging technologies to meet industry and academic expectations.
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff; conduct performance reviews, support tenure and promotion processes, and foster a collaborative environment.
• Manage student affairs, including advising, internship placement, retention initiatives, and resolution of academic appeals.
• Teach graduate‑level courses, develop instructional materials, assess student performance, and incorporate innovative pedagogical methods.
• Represent the program to external stakeholders, serve as Campus Security Authority, and travel among university campuses as needed.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate or terminal degree in a related field; a master’s degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies is required.
• Current NCCPA certification (or P.A. Emeritus).
• Minimum five years of classroom experience and at least three years of healthcare practice.
• Demonstrated record of teaching excellence, research, and scholarly activity.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
