Product Safety Engineer III

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a mid‑level Product Safety Engineer (E3) to support the design, evaluation, and regulatory compliance of its semiconductor equipment. The role works within cross‑functional teams to assess new technologies, mitigate risks, and ensure safety for employees, customers, and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional risk assessments (FMEA, FTA, HazOp, SEMI S10) for new technologies and system interactions.
• Develop and implement safety programs that reduce risk to personnel, facilities, and the environment.
• Conduct product and system safety analyses on components, subsystems, and complete systems.
• Support design reviews from a safety perspective and review engineering drawings for hazards.
• Investigate incidents, document corrective actions, and track remediation to closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Safety, or related engineering discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in product safety, compliance, or equipment engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
