Process Quality Electronics Engineer

About the role

ABB is hiring a Process Quality Electronics Engineer in Richmond, VA, reporting to the Process Quality Lead. The role is onsite and supports the deployment of a quality strategy for a local organizational unit, covering quality culture, systems, tools and competent teams so that customer expectations are exceeded and operations remain sustainable. The engineer works with local functions to reach organizational targets and aims for world-class performance.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze defective electronics components returned from customer sites and in-house rejections, and take the corrective action needed.
• Develop new testing equipment with a cross-functional team to test electronic components.
• Map current manufacturing processes and identify improvement areas through automation.
• Promote continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.
• Train and support users on new processes to ensure a smooth transition.
• Track emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related engineering field, plus at least 2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in analyzing electronics components.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics of electrical equipment and PCBAs.
• Work authorization permitting employment in the US.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma and other process improvement methods is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Use of electrical test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
• Schematic reading and component analysis.
