Private Sector Partnerships Specialist

About the role

The consultant will assess the feasibility for UNMAS to mobilise resources and establish sustainable strategic partnerships with non‑Member State donors. The assignment includes designing and delivering a practical training programme on corporate fundraising, high‑net‑worth donors and philanthropic giving.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a desk review of UNMAS documentation, strategic plans and fundraising materials.
• Survey and evaluate UNMAS’s current capabilities and understanding of non‑traditional funding opportunities.
• Interview staff, partners and relevant UN entities to identify challenges and opportunities in private‑sector fundraising.
• Analyse the mine‑action sector’s use of private‑sector funding and map market capacity.
• Prepare a detailed assessment report with recommendations for a private‑sector fundraising strategy, including options, timelines and risk analysis.
• Present findings and recommendations to UNMAS leadership.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in social sciences, international relations, development, public administration or a related field; a first‑level degree plus two years experience may be accepted.
• Minimum of 7 years professional experience in private‑sector fundraising, with proven expertise in donor acquisition, retention and development.
• Previous experience working for the United Nations in private‑sector partnerships or a closely related function.
• Demonstrated ability to develop partnership strategies and analyse implementation routes for private‑sector fundraising.
