Principal SAP HCM Consultant

About the role

Infosys is looking for a Principal SAP HCM Consultant to lead business process consulting, solution design, configuration and deployment for SAP HCM solutions. The role involves guiding project teams, shaping consulting proposals, and delivering client training while supporting global digital transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 functional support for SAP HCM modules (PA, OM, TM, Time, US Payroll, ESS/MSS).
• Investigate and resolve production issues, payroll errors, and master‑data inconsistencies.
• Support payroll cycles, time evaluation, retroactive runs and post‑payroll processing.
• Collaborate with HR teams to understand pain points and deliver functional solutions.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as SOPs, configuration changes and training materials.
• Support testing, rollout of support packs, enhancements and security updates.
• Monitor integrations and interface jobs with benefits, time and tax systems.
• Participate in S/4HANA fit‑gap analysis, data validation, testing and cut‑over activities.
• Contribute to functional design of HCM processes under the S/4HANA Compatibility Pack.
• Assist with transition planning and identify dependencies between support and implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or three years of progressive experience per year of education) and at least 11 years of IT experience.
• U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to IL4 data access requirements.
• Willingness to travel to client/project locations as needed.
• Preferred: strong SAP HCM functional background with production support experience and readiness for S/4HANA transformation projects.

Required skills

• Minimum 8 years of SAP HCM functional experience in a support environment.
• Expertise in US Payroll, Time Evaluation and master‑data management.
• Deep knowledge of infotypes, schemas, PCRs and wage‑type configuration.
• Exposure to S/4HANA or strong understanding of the S/4HANA HCM Compatibility Pack.
• Familiarity with writing functional specifications and collaborating with ABAP developers.
• Experience with incident/ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy or Jira.
