Principal Auditor - Finance

About the role

Capital One is looking for an energetic, self‑motivated Principal Auditor to help develop and execute audit plans that provide assurance over the Finance business. The role focuses on accounting, regulatory reporting, market and liquidity risks, counter‑party credit risks, and other treasury‑related risks across both first and second lines of defense.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small audits and own significant components of larger audits.
• Develop engagement planning documentation, justify scoping decisions, and create audit programs that cover identified risks.
• Design and execute audit procedures to test the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Document auditee processes, review evidence, and identify gaps.
• Prepare clear, organized documentation, including draft findings.
• Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and communicate audit progress.
• Prioritize work, manage multiple priorities, and proactively support the team.
• Coach and train junior audit staff, providing feedback and on‑the‑job learning.
