Pre-Registration Specialist – Patient Intake

About the role

The Pre-Registration Specialist collects patient intake documents before appointments, saving time and reducing paperwork. The role involves handling inbound and outbound calls, gathering patient demographics, and verifying insurance information to ensure a smooth registration process.

Key responsibilities

• Collect patient intake documents ahead of appointments.
• Answer inbound and outbound calls and gather patient demographics, including personal, employment, guarantor, emergency contact, and insurance details.
• Verify insurance information, check Medicaid PCP data, answer Medicare questionnaires, and assess out‑of‑network or out‑of‑area coverage.
• Direct out‑of‑network patients to the Office of Financial Counseling and advise in‑network patients on copay and deductible.
• Provide detailed appointment information, including time, location, and physician.
• Serve as the network specialist for patient insurance and perform additional duties to support patient care as needed.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED (minimum).
• At least 2 years of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write.
• Basic computer and keyboard skills, telephone etiquette, and familiarity with office equipment such as printers and scanners.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Preferred: Associate degree, one year in a medical office setting, basic medical terminology competency within 3 months, and registration experience.
