Porter - The Mann Center

About the role

The Porter position at The Mann Center is responsible for keeping the venue supplied and clean: delivering, maintaining, stocking and cleaning products so that there is always enough supply. The role also includes helping set up and break down functions periodically or as needed. The employer is Legends Global, a hospitality and events agency serving professional sports, collegiate, attractions, entertainment, international and convention clients.

Key responsibilities

• Wash all china, glass and silverware, and clean equipment, pots and pans before, during and after events.
• Store equipment in its proper place and sweep and mop kitchen and office floors.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all safety policies and completing safety training.
• Transport food and equipment around the venue and monitor cleaning supplies.
• Keep assigned areas clean and orderly, and perform daily inventory of required stock.
• Ensure requisitions are delivered on time and help with deliveries and stocking storerooms and side stations.
• Assist members promptly and professionally, and carry out opening and closing duties as assigned by the Chef.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old, high school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to read, speak and write English.
• Flexible schedule covering all venue events, including extended hours, days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Punctual, dependable and able to work in an open-air environment in all weather.
• Good personal hygiene and grooming, and sufficient mobility for standing, bending and lifting items of 10-30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette preferred.
• Ability to listen to management, work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced, team setting.
