Polysomnographic Technologist – Sleep Lab

About the role

This position provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including polysomnography, diagnostic services, and patient education. The technologist may also oversee other staff members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform polysomnography studies, calibrate and set up equipment according to published standards.
• Gather and analyze patient information, document sleep stages, clinical events, and mask fitting for PAP therapy.
• Score sleep studies using professional guidelines and maintain accurate patient records.
• Provide patient education, ensure privacy, and adapt communication to diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited polysomnography program preferred.
• Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPGST), Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) or Registered Sleep Tech (RST) and state licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize tasks.

Required skills

• Polysomnography equipment operation and calibration.
• Sleep study scoring and data entry.
• Positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
