Plant Engineering Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Plant Engineering Maintenance Engineer will join 3M’s Plant Engineering department to improve equipment reliability and support continuous improvement across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project timelines, budgets, construction activities and personnel to deliver assigned projects on schedule.
• Manage and audit the site contractor management program to ensure compliance and performance.
• Maintain effective communication with project teams, staff, owners and external contractors.
• Ensure adherence to safety, health and environmental codes and regulations.
• Develop analytical approaches to predict, prevent, eliminate or reduce equipment failures.
• Analyze failure, cost and uptime data using reliability analysis tools and implement improvement plans.
• Support Maintenance Conscious Engineering strategies and manage mechanical integrity and state‑regulation programs.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis teams, Kaizen/TPM events and other problem‑solving sessions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma plus six years, or Bachelor’s degree plus three years, of engineering or project‑management experience with equipment reliability.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in plant maintenance and reliability engineering, including reliability analysis, predictive (PdM) and preventative (PM) maintenance.
• At least one year of contractor‑management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work in private, public, government or military environments.
