Pipefitter – Industrial Process Equipment

About the role

Carotek, a SunSource company, supplies process equipment to industrial, commercial and municipal markets across the Southeast United States. The Pipefitter will plan, layout and fabricate full‑scale piping systems, supports and related equipment in accordance with drawings, specifications and industry codes.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, P&IDs and specifications to visualize three‑dimensional piping layouts.
• Plan, layout and assemble all types of piping systems, supports and related equipment according to contract documents.
• Measure, cut, bend and fit pipe using saws, cutting torches, benders and other hand/power tools.
• Prepare and clean assemblies for welding, and perform pipe fitting techniques such as butt‑weld, socket‑weld and threaded connections.
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts and lift trucks to move skids and components to the work area.
• Cut and bore holes in structures prior to pipe installation.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all safety rules and protective equipment requirements.
• Communicate professionally with co‑workers, management and customers to resolve design or manufacturing issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 1‑3 years of related pipefitting experience or equivalent training.
• Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and perform basic math calculations.
• Capability to convert metric measurements to standard units and interpret technical documents.
• Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes or lift trucks is preferred.

Required skills

• Pipe fitting techniques (butt‑weld, socket‑weld, threading).
• Blueprint and P&ID reading.
• Use of hand and power tools for cutting, bending and measuring pipe.
• Operation of overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Preparation of assemblies for welding.
