Physician - Vice Chair Cardiovascular Research

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a board‑certified physician leader to serve as Vice Chair for Cardiovascular Research. The role will shape the academic and research strategy of the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute, linking clinical cardiology with institutional research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Department of Cardiology and Academic leadership to design an optimal academic model for cardiovascular research, including workflow, resources, and compensation strategies.
• Lead the Cardiovascular Research Board, ensuring structures and resources align with the institute’s mission and strategic goals.
• Collaborate with fellowship program directors to define core expectations, update curricula, and enhance the fellow experience across cardiovascular subspecialties.
• Develop new subspecialty fellowship programs in partnership with departmental and academic leaders.
• Coordinate with the Chief Academic Officer and Chief Scientific Officer to align cardiology research with broader organizational research objectives.
• Identify faculty with research interests, facilitate collaborations, and support ongoing scholarly activity.

Required profile

• Board certification in a cardiovascular subspecialty with extensive clinical and research experience.
• Proven track record in designing, overseeing, and expanding clinical research programs.
• Strong collaborative skills to work across cardiology, academic, and executive leadership teams.
