Physician-Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist

About the role

Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible hematology/oncology physician with a focus on rare tumor types to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, engage in clinical research, and support academic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver medical oncology care for patients with rare tumors, including cancer of unknown primary, sarcomas, neuroendocrine tumors, and others.
• Participate in or develop clinical research studies, oversee clinical trials, and contribute to precision‑medicine initiatives.
• Teach fellows and residents and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across surgical, radiation, and advanced practice specialties.

Required profile

• Board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology.
• Specialized expertise or strong interest in rare tumor types such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mesothelioma, melanoma, thyroid cancer, etc.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in rare tumor oncology.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams, including molecular tumor boards and precision‑medicine programs.
