Physician Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist

About the role

Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in New Orleans is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible physician to join its Rare Tumor Medical Oncology team. The role combines direct patient care for uncommon cancers with academic activities, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient oncology care for patients with rare tumor types.
• Develop, lead, and participate in clinical research studies and clinical trials.
• Teach and mentor fellows and residents in oncology.
• Collaborate with surgical, radiation, and advanced practice oncology teams through dedicated tumor boards.
• Utilize next‑generation sequencing, molecular pathology, and precision‑medicine approaches to guide therapy.

Required profile

• Board certification or eligibility in hematology and oncology.
• Demonstrated expertise or strong interest in rare tumor entities such as sarcomas, neuroendocrine tumors, mesothelioma, etc.
• Commitment to academic pursuits, including teaching and research.
• Willingness to work onsite in New Orleans and engage with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Board‑certified/eligible in hematology‑oncology.
• Clinical experience with rare cancers and precision‑medicine strategies.
• Ability to conduct and oversee clinical trials.
