Phlebotomist (Bilingual – English/Spanish)

About the role

The Phlebotomist is responsible for the efficient collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the apheresis process, and following all Standard Operating Procedures. The role requires close attention to donor safety, equipment performance, and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of the apheresis procedure, including donor set‑up, monitoring, and disconnect, in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
• Conduct venipuncture to initiate the plasma collection process and evaluate vein performance to ensure optimal donation time and product quality.
• Educate new donors on screening, appointment scheduling, fees, nutrition, and center policies.
• Monitor donors for adverse reactions, respond appropriately, and record incidents using a PDA.
• Calibrate equipment, verify maintenance, troubleshoot equipment alarms, and document any equipment failures.
• Collect arm or whole‑blood samples for testing and ensure accurate entry of donor data into the electronic management system.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to HSE and OSHA policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Internal CSL employees must have completed CSL Plasma DST training; external candidates must possess relevant phlebotomy or plasma‑collection experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills may be required based on business needs.
