PHE Mechanic – Equipment Repair & Assembly

About the role

As a PHE Mechanic you will work on‑site in Houston, TX, handling receipt, inspection, repair and packaging of plate heat exchangers while following strict quality, safety and SOP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, count, verify, label and store parts, and manage uncrating of equipment.
• Disassemble plate heat exchangers (PHEs), clean, inspect, rebuild and re‑assemble to new standards.
• Perform dye‑penetration inspections, pressure‑wash units, paint when specified, and install new gaskets (glue, snap or clip).
• Complete preliminary, actual and final inspection reports and read engineering drawings throughout the process.
• Maintain work area cleanliness following 5S standards and manage inventory of supplies and tools.
• Handle shipping, receiving and distribution of Alfa Laval and customer equipment, including occasional customer equipment pickup.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated team player aligned with Alfa Laval’s Action, Interaction and Satisfaction values.
• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in a manual shop environment preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work safely and follow SOPs and quality standards.

Required skills

• Operation of forklift trucks, hand pallet jacks and overhead cranes.
• Use of measuring devices such as tape measures and depth micrometers.
• Barcode scanning and basic data entry for clock‑in/out procedures.
