PhD Research & Development Internship (Summer 2027)

About the role

This 10‑12 week internship starts in Summer 2027 and offers PhD‑level candidates the chance to contribute to new technology development at 3M. You will work full‑time in a collaborative, global R&D environment, supporting both innovative projects and existing product lines.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of new technologies and growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with senior researchers, analytical chemists, process engineers, and other R&D functions.
• Lead assigned projects toward advanced technical solutions.
• Document experimental work in 3M electronic laboratory notebooks for potential invention disclosures.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results.

Required profile

• Availability to work full‑time for a 10‑12 week period starting Summer 2027.
• Eligibility for 3M’s housing and transportation stipend as defined by company policy.
• Interest in research and development within a corporate technology or product engineering context.
