Pharmacy Technician IV – Specialty Pharmacy

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician IV will support the Specialty Pharmacy team at UAMS, ensuring safe and efficient processing of high‑complexity medications. This full‑time, onsite position works closely with pharmacists, nurses, and patients to deliver optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, compound, and dispense specialty medications according to strict protocols.
• Verify prescription orders, perform medication reconciliation, and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate with insurance providers and specialty drug manufacturers for prior authorizations and product availability.
• Provide patient education on medication administration, storage, and side‑effects.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, including controlled substance handling.

Required profile

• Current or prior experience in a specialty or oncology pharmacy setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex standard operating procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
