Pharmacy Specialist – Dermatology

About the role

The Pharmacy Specialist will join an interdisciplinary team within UAMS Specialty Pharmacy Services – Dermatology, delivering pharmacy services that prioritize safety, efficacy, and positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate into the specialty interdisciplinary team and build professional relationships.
• Perform patient assessments in line with accreditation standards and disease‑state management agreements.
• Evaluate therapy appropriateness, recommend screening, monitoring, and manage side‑effects.
• Document clinical interventions, promote adherence, and monitor patient compliance.
• Respond to clinical communications promptly and act as a liaison between patients and the clinic.
• Provide evidence‑based drug information to medical staff and defend product use to payers.
• Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation, quality improvement projects, and serve on the Quality Management Committee.
• Collaborate with drug manufacturers to secure limited‑distribution medications and complete required training.

Required profile

• Graduate of an ACPE‑accredited pharmacy program (Pharm.D. or BS in Pharmacy) with PGY1 residency or 3 + years relevant experience.
• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: Board certification in a relevant area and 5 + years of specialty experience.
