Pharmacy Resident (PGY1) – ASHP Match – New Orleans

About the role

This position focuses on developing clinical practice skills. The resident actively participates in multidisciplinary patient‑care rounds and teaching conferences, gaining experience in medication use processes through direct patient care and distributive activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assesses and cares for patients.
• Manages medication therapy.
• Verifies orders and dispenses medications.
• Develops professional skills.
• Completes job assignments and projects.
• Maintains residency documentation.
• Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and tailoring communication.
• Remains knowledgeable on federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards.
• Other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited College/School of Pharmacy.
• License to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
