PH Environmental Health Deputy Director

About the role

Join the State of Georgia’s Department of Public Health as the PH Environmental Health Deputy Director. In this senior leadership position you will support the Environmental Health Director and help shape the state’s environmental health programs, providing technical assistance to agencies, corporations and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Environmental Health Director and lead the delivery of environmental health services across the state.
• Plan and develop short‑term (one‑year) and long‑term (five‑year) goals and strategies for the environmental health program.
• Direct the evaluation of technical documents, environmental and public health issues, and facilities using sound engineering and scientific principles.
• Oversee subordinate supervisors and staff, managing a large workforce and ensuring effective program implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics).
• Six years of full‑time professional experience in a related field, including three years in a managerial role or equivalent state manager position.
