Petroleum Inspector – Corpus Christi, TX

About the role

The Petroleum Inspector conducts on‑site quantity surveys of petroleum and petrochemical commodities, collects samples, and performs laboratory analyses to support quality, process, and product development control.

Key responsibilities

• Visit client facilities such as barges, ships, shore tanks, railcars and tank trucks to conduct quantity surveys and collect samples.
• Label, gauge and safely transport samples to the Inspectorate laboratory for analysis or client review.
• Operate laboratory equipment (microscopes, centrifuges, viscosimeters, spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, colorimeters, etc.) to perform chemical and physical tests.
• Accurately calculate quantities and test results, complete required paperwork and distribute copies.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and attend key meetings with external personnel.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 1–3 years of laboratory experience using GC, HPLC or related techniques.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to read safety rules, write routine reports, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to solve practical problems, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate discrepancies to supervisors.

Required skills

• Gas chromatography (GC) and high‑performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) techniques.
• Operation of microscopes, centrifuges, viscosimeters, spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs and colorimeters.
• Sample collection, labeling, and quantity calculation.
