People Operations Lead

About the role

Codes Health is seeking its first People Operations leader to build the HR function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape the employee experience, ensure compliance, and support rapid scaling of a high‑performing team in New York.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the end‑to‑end employee experience, including onboarding, offboarding and ongoing engagement.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, handling sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment.
• Develop and maintain People policies, the employee handbook, visa support and all compliance documentation.
• Partner with the CEO on organizational design and future hiring plans, eventually growing a People team.
• Implement and manage modern HR systems and infrastructure to accelerate business processes.
• Work onsite five days a week in the NYC office.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in HR, People Operations or talent management, preferably in high‑growth startups.
• Proven track record of building or scaling People functions from scratch.
• High standards, strong judgment, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations.
• Excellent program‑management skills and a bias toward action.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with modern HR platforms such as Rippling, Ashby or Lattice.
