Payroll Tax Analyst

About the role

The Payroll Tax Analyst provides professional payroll and tax administration services for Roche's North America Shared Services organization, partnering with stakeholders to support data‑driven decisions and strategy execution.

Key responsibilities

• Execute U.S. payroll tax administration, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, handling tax notices, audits, and risk assessments.
• Manage SUI rate updates, tax jurisdiction changes, filing amendments, Power of Attorney documentation, and lock‑in letters.
• Calculate severance repayments, recover overpayments, and oversee monthly/quarterly tax balancing across entities.
• Gather and analyze business requirements, participate in Workday system upgrade testing, and apply Lean Six Sigma methods to improve processes.
• Provide expert advice on tax‑related inquiries, manage cases in ServiceNow, and handle W‑2/W‑2c requests and year‑end adjustments.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in an HR Shared Services Center within a complex matrix organization.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Experience with U.S. Workday Payroll system.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow case management.

• Salary range $58,200 – $108,000 per year, based on experience and location.
