Patient Services Associate – Women Inpatient Unit

About the role

The Patient Services Associate (PSA) works on the Behavioral Health Service Line Women’s Inpatient Unit, providing both clerical and direct patient support under the supervision of the Clinical Services Manager and RN. The role ensures smooth admission, discharge, and daily operations while maintaining a compassionate environment for patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, families, and visitors; register patients and verify demographic, insurance, and contact information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm behavioral health appointments and manage referrals, authorizations, and medical records.
• Maintain accurate patient data in electronic medical records and scheduling systems; assist with check‑in/check‑out processes.
• Answer telephone inquiries, direct calls to appropriate staff, and process payments according to organizational procedures.
• Communicate with providers, nurses, therapists, social workers, and insurance companies to coordinate patient services while ensuring HIPAA and behavioral health privacy compliance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• At least one year of experience in health care or a service‑oriented role.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Successful completion of UAMS PCT and PSC training courses.
