Patient Care Technician – Women’s Center (WISL)

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works as a trained member of the unit‑based team at the Women’s Center (WISL) of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Under direct supervision of registered nurses, the PCT supports delivery of patient care, communicates patient status, and assists with admissions, transfers and discharges.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and relay patient reports to RNs, notifying them of any changes in condition or patient requests.
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, discharge and transport throughout the hospital.
• Provide grooming, oral hygiene, ambulation assistance, and repositioning as delegated.
• Document vital signs, activities of daily living, intake & output, and other care activities accurately.
• Support patients and visitors with information and problem‑solving.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; successful completion of a patient care technician course within three months of hire.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Experience in an ambulatory care setting or as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Military Corpsman is a plus.
• Strong communication, basic computer proficiency, work ethic and accountability.
