Patient Care Technician – Neuroscience Clinics

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join its Neuroscience Clinics. This full‑time, day‑shift position supports clinical staff in delivering high‑quality patient care within a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nurses and physicians with patient examinations, procedures, and daily care activities.
• Collect and process specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical workspace, adhering to infection‑control standards.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families, addressing basic needs and answering questions.
• Operate and troubleshoot clinical equipment as directed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; completion of a Patient Care Technician or equivalent training program.
• Current certification (e.g., CNA, CPT) preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to work day shifts on‑site at the Little Rock campus.

Required skills

• Basic patient‑care techniques (vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection).
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
• Knowledge of infection‑control and safety protocols.
