Patient Care Technician – Medical/Surgical & Critical Care Float

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join its Medical/Surgical and Critical Care Float Pool. In this position you will provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units, supporting nursing staff and ensuring high‑quality clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nurses with patient assessments, vital signs, and basic procedures.
• Provide bedside care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, and patient comfort.
• Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and specimen collection as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Ensure infection control standards and patient safety protocols are followed.
• Adapt to varied shift schedules and work in different unit environments as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Patient Care Technician or CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced hospital setting.
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient‑centered care.
