Patient Access Representative (Lab) – Per Diem

About the role

Under management direction, the Patient Access Representative handles the full registration cycle for lab patients, including benefit verification, discharge processing, collection of copays, account balancing, and data entry within the electronic health record.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by answering calls, responding to inquiries, and referring complex accounts to financial counselors.
• Perform preregistration, registration, scheduling, rescheduling, and discharge tasks while ensuring all patient information and documents are accurately entered into the EHR.
• Verify insurance eligibility, obtain pre‑authorizations, and manage co‑payments, deductibles, and other financial transactions.
• Balance daily cash, prepare deposit slips, and generate reports for Patient Financial Services.
• Participate in process‑improvement activities, float to other work areas, and work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of customer service or healthcare registration experience.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage time efficiently.
• Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic certification in American Heart Association BLS.
