Pathologist Assistant – Anatomical Pathology (Kings Hwy)

About the role

Under the supervision of pathologists, the Pathologist Assistant performs gross examination of surgical specimens, assists in intra‑operative consultations, and maintains patient confidentiality while supporting departmental goals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform frozen sections and intra‑operative consultations following established protocols.
• Dissect and provide gross descriptions for a full range of surgical specimens.
• Coordinate gross‑room operations and act as a preceptor for trainees and entry‑level staff.
• Assist with specimen accessioning, labeling, storage, disposal and maintain reagents and equipment.
• Support research by coordinating acquisition of tissue specimens.

Required profile

• Master’s degree from an NAACLS‑accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of large‑specimen grossing experience.
• Two years of grossing experience preferred.
• Certification by ASCP and AAPA preferred (none required).
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with federal, state and accreditation standards.

• Proficient computer skills, including data entry and retrieval.
• Experience with Windows‑style applications and role‑specific software packages.
