PATCH Research Fellow

About the role

The PATCH Research Fellow joins a mission‑driven team at Northeastern University to advance healthcare cybersecurity through whole‑hospital simulations and vulnerability mitigation platforms. The role focuses on applied research, experimentation, and mentorship to improve the resilience of medical devices and hospital networks.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute technical expertise to research on hospital‑scale cybersecurity simulations and vulnerability mitigation platforms.
• Lead or participate in experimental studies, including penetration testing and evaluation of emerging medical device technologies.
• Advise faculty, students, and collaborators on research methodologies and security strategies.
• Publish research papers, technical reports, and present findings at conferences and workshops.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent extensive government/industry experience.
• Significant professional experience in cybersecurity, healthcare technology, embedded systems, or related areas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
