Party Chief – Survey Services (Offshore)

About the role
The Party Chief for Survey Services leads offshore field teams to execute hydrographic and geophysical survey projects. Reporting to the project manager and client representatives, the role ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality data collection while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct field investigations, preparing and reviewing field notes, and ensuring data quality and backup.
- Manage crew safety, conduct daily Job Safety Analyses, and lead safety tail‑gate meetings.
- Maintain and calibrate survey equipment such as winches, coring gear, side‑scan sonar, multibeam, sub‑bottom profiler, magnetometers, GPS/DGPS/USBL systems.
- Communicate daily progress reports to clients and office, handle spare parts logistics, and oversee vessel equipment maintenance.
- Document notable events, downtime, weather impacts, and data issues for each shift.
Required profile
- 7–10 years of experience in the survey industry with proven leadership of offshore crews.
- Must possess or obtain a TWIC card, a valid passport, and be able to travel domestically and internationally.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and foster positive client and crew relationships.
Required skills
- Operation and calibration of GPS, Side Scan Sonar, Multibeam Sonar, Sub‑bottom Profiler, and Magnetometer systems.
- Proficiency with winches, coring equipment, and other hydrographic/geophysical sensors.
- Basic computer skills, data collector operation, and use of major survey equipment manufacturer software.
- Data quality assurance, backup procedures, and documentation of field data.
