Part‑time Research Analyst

About the role

ERG is seeking a part‑time Research Analyst to join its Economic and Policy Analysis practice. The analyst will support a variety of federal, state and local projects that evaluate public‑health, worker‑safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a technical analyst on U.S. policy‑oriented projects, focusing on public health, occupational safety and environmental issues.
• Work with large data sets – cleaning, merging, matching and visualising – using R, Python, SAS, STATA or similar tools.
• Implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and apply AI/ML techniques across project tasks.
• Conduct technical literature reviews and support senior staff in benefit‑cost and impact analyses.
• Assist in quantitative and qualitative evaluations of programs, including primary data collection (surveys, interviews, focus groups).
• Prepare sections of reports, memoranda, quantitative models and presentation materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, data science, statistics, computer science, sociology or a related quantitative field.
• Proficiency in R, Python, C, C++, SAS or STATA for coding and predictive analytics.
• Ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative technical analyses.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the capacity to explain findings to non‑technical audiences.
• Effective time‑management and ability to meet multiple project deadlines.
