Part‑Time Campus Security Guard

About the role

The campus needs a reliable part‑time Security Guard to protect students, staff, visitors and property across all Pierpont facilities. You will conduct regular patrols, monitor security systems, and respond to emergencies while supporting the college’s safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds, checking doors, windows and gates for security.
• Assist individuals requiring medical attention and provide aid to disabled vehicles.
• Enforce parking and traffic regulations, and retrieve keys from locked vehicles.
• Record incidents such as property damage, unusual occurrences, or equipment malfunctions.
• Contact local police or fire services in emergencies.
• Operate the central control security platform and maintain the video surveillance system.
• Circulate among visitors, faculty, staff and students to preserve order and protect property.
• Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee.
• Create student ID cards as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to recognize dangerous or emergency situations and act appropriately.
• Capability to handle unpredictable or tense situations, including aggressive or mentally ill individuals.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with students, faculty, staff and the public.
• Non‑exempt, classified employee status; part‑time availability.
